The hosts of the activity were friendly, we felt very welcoming and at home. Baking the bread was easy and fun to learn (with their help). I recommend it! Thank you.
It was really a great experience! We were warmly welcomed and accompanied throughout the afternoon. We left with not only 12 rolls we made on site, but also with a list of recommendations of things to do on the island. We go back without hesitation!
Amazing experience. The ladies are both so sweet and knowledgeable. The setting is beautiful, with the house nestled in an abundant fruit and vegetable garden. Best thing I’ve ever done in Madeira!!! Can’t wait to try and bake them at home.
It was an absolutely amazing activity! Nati welcomed us into her home and taught us how to make Bolo do Caco. The guides were really friendly and everything was provided to make us feel comfortable! Once the activity was over, we left with all of our creations, enough to feed us for a few days 😄 I highly recommend this activity! Thank you
Fun activity in Madeira! Great talking with locals in a beautiful setting and learning about the island. Would definitely recommend it.
Simply fantastic! The family was extremely friendly, we learned a lot, enjoyed delicious food, and had pleasant conversations. The recipe was excellent. We can wholeheartedly recommend this experience. Thank you to the family for guiding us through the workshop with such warmth.
From the moment we arrived at Canhas, we were received with genuine affection. The doors of the kitchen opened to us as if we were old friends, and this feeling of familiarity accompanied us throughout the Caco Colo cooking experience. The process was fun, relaxing and incredibly rewarding. Everything was organized with great care and attention. We will definitely repeat the visit.
It was a wonderful experience and we were allowed to take all the bread we baked home with us. The family was very nice and hospitable. Highly recommended for a unique experience.
What a fantastic experience this was! When we arrived, we were greeted by Tania, who took us to see where the workshop was being held. Once inside, we were introduced to the rest of the family and given a delicious cup of coffee. Then we started our workshop, where we received excellent guidance and lots of information about how the bread is made and its origins. There were various options for toppings, so there was something for everyone. Of course, we tasted our bread afterwards, and it was fantastic. We were given a bag to take home with us, so we will definitely have enough to eat over the next few days. We thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality and authenticity of this workshop. We would recommend it to everyone. Tip: book this activity early in your vacation because you will get more than enough tips for fun must-see places during the pleasant conversations.
This activity was absolutely worth it! We left with arms full of bread and delicious food that will last us for days. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the hosts were simply lovely—so generous, kind, and always ready to help. They answered all our questions with patience and enthusiasm. You can tell they genuinely enjoy sharing their knowledge. We learned so much during the experience. Truly authentic and enriching—highly recommended! - Roxanne & Dominique
This was such a fun and interesting workshop. They even had separate ingredients for me to make mine Vegan! Very accommodating, friendly and clean! Highly recommend.
Great experience and super friendly people in a beautiful home and scenic area, highly recommend. A highlight of our first visit to Madeira.
It was wonderful! We were given a very warm welcome and had a fantastic afternoon. The interpreter (the housekeeper's niece) translated into very clear English. The housekeeper was very traditional and we can now bake authentic bolo de caco. Very, very good!
So lovely and such an amazing atmosphere! Had an amazing afternoon and felt so at home. The food was really delicious, felt great to learn from a real pro! Would absolutely recommend to anyone! Also you do enough food to take some home for the next day.
The baking class was a lot of fun and very authentic. The two hosts are very friendly, attentive, and put their hearts into what they do. We felt completely at home and baked delicious bolos. They even took our dietary preferences (vegetarian) into account. The maximum group size of four people is great. We would recommend this class anytime.
Upon arrival, everything was ready & in order for us to start the process of making Bolo do Caco. Senhora Nati & menina Tania were both extremely nice & greeted us into their kitchen; making us feel like family. The Bolo do Caco with Chourico & Cheese is delicious. Everything was extremely organized. We highly recommend it.
We had such a great time at this workshop! It was so nice to learn more about the culture of Madeira while making bolo do caco. The family was so welcoming and kind. We did this workshop the first day of our trip and were so glad we did because we learned so much about Madeira and had plenty of bread to last us through our week on the island. This experience is a must and one of our favorite things we did on the island!!
It was a great experience with wonderful hosts! Preparing the bread under Nati's guidance was really fun, and the Bolo do Caco was delicious too🤗Tanja took photos of us while we were baking, which she sent to us at the end, along with the recipe. All in all, it was a fantastic day with the two of them that we won't forget in a hurry! 😃
My wife and I had the great pleasure of participating in this workshop – and were welcomed with great warmth by Tania and Nati. Surprisingly, our appointment turned into a private class, which gave the whole experience a particularly personal touch. Tania and Nati not only guided us patiently and cheerfully through the process of baking traditional bolo do caco, but also gave us lots of interesting insights into their ingredients, the garden, and how they prepare the bread at home. The conversations were just as enriching as the baking experience itself – we felt completely at ease and welcome. We highly recommend this workshop. If you are looking for an authentic, warm, and educational experience in Madeira, this is the place for you!
It was incredibly beautiful at Tania and Nati's! We were given a very warm welcome and then got to help them prepare the dough. While we were doing that, we talked about everything under the sun – it was such an exciting insight into local life. Later, we baked the bolo do caco over the fire and tried different variations. It was so delicious 😍 The time flew by! We loved not only the course but also the island, so we definitely want to come back—and we'll definitely stop by Tania and Nati's again! ❤️
Great activity to do if you're in the area. We made our own Bolo do Caco and got to take our batch of bread rolls home with us. Our hosts gave us a wonderful welcome.
An absolute must-do when you come to Madeira! Nati and Tanja were super friendly and it was so exciting to bake delicious bread with our own hands.
There were two of us there that day and we immediately felt at home with the family 😊 The preparation was well explained, they used spinach from their own garden and the bread tasted really good in the end. We were able to take the 'extra' home with us, which alone made the price worthwhile. I would definitely recommend this activity as it is something different from the other offers.
Great experience in a warm and friendly family environment. Learned a lot about the culture of Madeira and bolo do caco. Plus, you get enough bread to take home for the next few days 🙂
It was wonderful to bake Bolo do Caco with Tania and Nati. The family welcomed us warmly and gave us an insight into their life. It was a lot of fun and everything was very well explained. Plus, we got to take all the bread home with us! Highly recommended.
Tania was amazingly accommodating to our schedule and the course was amazing and definitely hands-on. Expect to knead the dough thoroughly but definitely worth it as you’ll leave with bags full of different Bolo do Cacos filled with cheese, chourizo and plain ones. Going back home with a homemade recipe from this Madeira bread, best memory I could ask for.
Thank you for the great program and conversation. Wonderful homely environment, great people and great food. We will definitely make it at home. We made so much bread that they packed it for us and we had food for the next few days for the hikes.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience at the Casa da Nati. It was so fun to make bolo de caco in the traditional manner. Our hosts did a wonderful job of welcoming us to their home and showing us their culture, history, and flavors. Spending time with them felt warm and welcoming. This is an experience I’d recommend to anyone.
We were looking for a local experience to make the most of our last days in Madeira, and meeting Nati was, without a doubt, one of the highlights of our trip! We picked fresh fruit straight from the trees, baked traditional Bolo do Caco, and enjoyed it with delicious garlic butter. We even brought three Bolo do Caco loaves back home with us. It was an unforgettable experience!
