Casa da Nati

The Bolo do Caco Experience at Casa da Nati

At Casa da Nati, we welcome guests into our family home in Canhas, in the hills above Ponta do Sol, to make Bolo do Caco together.

This is not a formal class. It is a small, personal experience around food, stories, and the traditions we grew up with.

What you’ll do

We start by preparing the dough by hand. Nati guides each step, from mixing the ingredients to shaping the bread.

While the dough rests, we prepare the garlic butter and talk about how this bread is part of everyday life in Madeira.

Then we cook the bread and sit together to taste it while it is still warm.

How long it takes

The experience usually takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes, but we do not rush. Many guests stay longer because the best part is often the conversation after the bread is ready.

Why we do it

For us, Bolo do Caco is more than bread. It is something we make at home, share at the table, and connect with family memories.

We created this experience so visitors can understand Madeira through something simple and real: making food together.

We would love to welcome you to our home.
